the fair-use deal.
last updated 10 june 2026.
the short version: use assertly to test sites you own or are authorised to test, treat generated steps and results as a tool not a guarantee, and don’t abuse the service. you keep your specs; we run the software. it’s provided as-is, and these terms are governed by the law of england & wales.
acceptance
by creating an account or otherwise using assertly, you agree to these terms. if you’re using assertly on behalf of a team or company, you confirm you’re authorised to accept these terms on its behalf. if you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
what assertly is
assertly is natural-language test automation: it turns plain-english test specs into end-to-end browser steps, runs them in a sandboxed browser, and reports the result with logs and screenshots.
accounts & the sites you test
- you need an account to use assertly. you can sign up with email or a supported identity provider.
- you must be at least 13 years old to use assertly.
- you're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials and personal api token secure.
- you may only run tests against sites you own or are authorised to test, and you must respect those sites' own terms and rate limits.
acceptable use
keep it fair. you agree not to:
- use assertly for anything illegal or to harass, abuse, or harm others
- scrape, reverse engineer, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service
- run tests against sites you have no right to access, or in a way that overloads or attacks them
- treat generated steps or results as a guarantee — review them before relying on a green or red result
subscriptions & payment
assertly has a free plan and a paid pro plan, billed on a weekly, monthly, or yearly cadence. payments are processed by stripe; we don’t store your card details. subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can manage or cancel yours any time through the stripe billing portal. cancelling stops future renewals but doesn’t refund the current period. we don’t give refunds except where required by law, and we’ll give reasonable notice before any price change.
your content & ip
the test specs you create stay yours. you grant us the licence we need to store, process, generate steps from, and run them for you. the assertly software, design, and brand belong to ogbuilds, and nothing here transfers any of that to you.
third-party services
assertly relies on third parties to operate — including stripe for payments, neon for our database, a headless-browser execution provider for test runs, and anthropic to generate test steps. your use of those services is subject to their own terms. we’re not responsible for third-party services we don’t control.
disclaimers
assertly is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. we don’t promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. generated steps and test results may be inaccurate or incomplete — always review them before relying on them.
limitation of liability
to the fullest extent permitted by law, ogbuilds won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses. our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100 if you’re on the free plan. nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
termination
you can stop using assertly and close your account at any time. we may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that puts it or others at risk.
governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of england & wales, and the courts of england & wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
changes
we may update these terms from time to time. we’ll update the date above, and continued use of assertly after a change means you accept the updated terms.
